The Family Tree
In 2014 my father had a maple tree that I grew up climbing cut down. My only request was to have a nice hunk of it. This guitar has a bookmatched Spalted Maple top from that tree. It was cut, surfaced, air dried and bookmatched by yours truly. It's glued to a Sapele body purchased from a local supplier as 16/4 lumber and cut in my shop. The rear control plates were made from the same piece of Maple as the top. The neck is a Curly Maple with Katalox fretboard which is also known as Mexican Ebony. It has become my favorite fretboard wood. It has the look of rosewood but the workability, polish and sound of any other ebony I've ever used. The pickups are Dimarzio Steve Lukather Transition signature set. It also featuers an EVH Floyd Rose with the D-Tuna, Bourn's low friction pots with my standard treble bleed and Fender Greasebucket tone circuit as well as Kluson tuners. It was completed on February 17, 2017. This is one of the best guitars I've ever played! It's also the most special.
